Together with a Junior Designer, I was the first designer to join one of Europe's fastest-growing EdTech startups. I've worked on all fronts and recently have been leading design for our AI Tutor - an initiative deemed critical by investors.

My Role
I was the most experienced designer in the company until our Head of Design joined in Summer 2022.
Worked on our Design Tokens & Design System Components, closely collaborated with Developers to implement the system.
Together with my PM championed a new framework for product discovery that is now adopted on a broader basis.

01 - Developing our AI Tutor
Our initial Assistant wasn't adopted by many students, so I researched new interaction patterns in order to improve the Experience resulting in a significant increase of user engagement with the Tutor.

01 - Challenge
While LLM’s bring entirely new possibilities for education, the market is flooded with lackluster design solutions
02 - Research
Best Practices pointed towards leveraging existing UI Patterns and minizing reliance on texting
Even the market didn’t have any solution I found to be adequate
I took the risk and researched a new interaction pattern
03 - Concept
Translating different means of human communication into the digital world
Idea was to separate human input and AI feedback in layers
We figured it’d be crucial if the AI could give hints or nudges
Lower Grades - 06/23
01 - Challenge:
Our Product, beloved by Older Students, wasn’t resonating all that well with younger ones
02 - Research
Through interviewing Teachers, we found young students did not know what to search for
Young Students struggled to abstract concepts from a task
Teachers also said that for motivation its best to show
03 - Solution
Helping young students finding what they need with an AI- powered quiz and a guided keyword search

01 - color Tokens
Design & Dev. wasn’t aligned when we joined, so with Tokens I laid the foundation for it
02 - Visual Overhaul
Together with our Head of Design we developed a new visual direction for the app
We created colors based on personal traits users connected with our app
I played around with Dall-E3 to get some consistent visuals
